THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR TRIP

Passport and Travel Documents

• Your passport should generally be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Indonesia.
• Make sure your passport is undamaged and legible.
• Keep your return or onward flight ticket with you.
• Store your hotel reservation and tour confirmation documents on your phone.
• It is also recommended to keep a digital copy of your passport.

Visa and Entry Requirements

Indonesia's visa practices vary according to visitors' nationality, passport type and purpose of travel.

• Citizens of some countries have visa-free entry rights.
• Citizens of some countries may benefit from the Visa on Arrival (VOA) or e-VOA application.
• Citizens of other countries may need to apply for the appropriate visa before travelling.
• Visa validity, entry rights and required documents should be checked before travel.

Passengers travelling internationally to Indonesia are required to complete the unified arrival declaration.

Bali Tourist Levy

A tourist levy of 150,000 IDR per person is charged to international tourists arriving in Bali. Some visitors may be eligible for exemption. It is recommended to make the payment before travel and to keep the payment receipt.

Climate and Weather Conditions

Bali has a tropical climate. Hot and humid weather conditions are seen throughout the year.

• Average temperatures are generally between 27–32°C.
• The sun's rays can be quite strong.
• Short but heavy showers may occur during the rainy season.
• Ubud and high-altitude areas may be cooler than coastal areas.

It is useful to carry a light raincoat with you.

Temple Visits and Local Culture

Bali is known for its distinctive Hindu culture, traditions and religious structures.

• Appropriate clothing should be preferred when visiting temples.
• There are areas where shoulders and knees must be covered.
• Use of a sarong (local waist wrap) is mandatory at some temples.
• Respectful behaviour should be shown towards religious ceremonies and places of worship.
• Do not take photographs in areas where photography is not permitted.
• Do not enter sacred areas without the permission of the authorized person.

Currency and Payment Methods

The currency of Indonesia is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR).

• It is recommended to carry some cash for daily personal expenses.
• Credit cards can be used at large restaurants, hotels and shopping outlets.
• Cash payment may be preferred at local markets and small businesses.
• When exchanging currency, prefer authorized and reliable exchange offices.
• Check the price and your change before making a payment.

Internet and Communication

• You may prefer a local SIM card or eSIM.
